Self-healing, ACP, Orthokine and autologous blood

Fractures, bruises or cuts are reliably healed by our body - not by mystical self-healing powers, but by a single central prerequisite: good blood circulation.

Structures with a strong blood supply regenerate quickly. Areas with less blood flow - such as tendons or joint structures - also heal, but usually take much longer. This is why similar complaints occur again and again in everyday orthopaedic practice: Tennis elbow, shoulder pain, Achilles tendon complaints, hamstring problems, heel spurs (plantar fasciitis) or even osteoarthritis are among the most common clinical pictures alongside back pain.

Why do these typical weak points occur?
The cause lies in the weaker blood circulation in certain areas of the body. Healing processes in these areas are slower and often incomplete. Autologous blood therapy (PRP/ACP) was developed to compensate for this natural disadvantage.

The principle is simple and at the same time very effective:

  • Approx. 15 ml of blood is taken from a vein.
  • It is separated into its components in a special centrifuge - this process only takes a few minutes.
  • The plasma obtained, which is rich in the body's own growth factors and cells responsible for regeneration, is injected specifically into the affected area - for example into a joint suffering from osteoarthritis or into inflamed tendon insertions.

In this way, healing processes can be supported and significantly accelerated.

Whether the method is called PRP, ACP or Orthokine is ultimately irrelevant: the decisive factor is that only the body's own blood is used - and therefore practically no side effects are to be expected.

Cost coverage:
Private health insurance companies generally reimburse the treatment. Unfortunately, statutory health insurance companies do not currently cover the costs.

Areas of application:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Sports injuries
  • Delayed healing processes

Many athletes benefit from significantly faster regeneration.

We will be happy to advise you personally on whether autologous blood therapy makes sense for you.
