The Open MRT moves to the ROC!
Since January 2023, ROC-Aschheim has been offering private patients or self-pay patients the opportunity to schedule an appointment for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan at OPEN-MRT with minimal lead time.
Over the past few weeks, our patients have already had a sense that something “big” was on its way. A 50-square-meter basement apartment was converted into a fully-fledged MRI unit.
This meant that the apartment had to be completely cleared out and gutted. All the floors had to be covered with a new concrete screed, and the electrical and plumbing systems were completely replaced. Carpentry work, HVAC installation, and core drilling were necessary to prepare everything for the open MRT.
A 17-metric-ton MRI machine takes up a lot of space—so we broke through the building’s facade and created new access points to the MRI unit. We also gave the stairwell and entrance area an attractive new look. Interior designers, electricians, structural engineers, carpenters, plumbers, booth builders, drywall installers, floor installers, masons, core drillers, and I all worked very hard.
We are therefore all the more pleased to now be able to offer you the option of open MRI: in a comfortable setting and without long wait times!
MRI is an imaging technique that can be used to visualize a wide range of medical conditions, sites of inflammation, or changes within the body.
Open MRI is also suitable for patients who generally feel uncomfortable in confined spaces. This option is also ideal for children, as the open design prevents them from feeling confined.
